Istraživači Centra za sigurnosne studije, Mirela Hodović i Sanjin Hamidičević, su 06.06.2018. godine u okviru NATO odobrenog kursa ‘International Staff Officer Skills Course – ISOSC’ održali predavanja na teme ‘Demokratska kontrola nad oružanim snagama – praktični pristup (regionalni pristup Zapadnog Balkana)’ i ‘Uloga NVO u demokratskoj kontroli nad oružanim snagama’. Polaznici kursa, koji je organizovao PSOTC (Centar za obuku za operacije podrške miru) su studenti iz Bosne i Hercegovine, zemalja članica NATO-a, Partnerstva za mir, Makedonije, Albanije, Azerbejdžana i Tunisa.
Učesnicima kursa su predstavljeni mehanizmi demokratske kontrole i nadzora nad oružanim snagama u 6 država regiona, sa posebnim naglaskom na parlamentarni nadzor i nadzor koji vrše nezavisna tijela. Ovom prilikom, učesnici su upoznati i sa aktivnostima koje je Centar za sigurnosne studije proveo u posljednjih 17 godina, a koje se tiču demokratskog nadzora nad sigurnosnim sektorom, izgradnji integriteta u sigurnosnom sektoru i jačanja kapaciteta institucija odbrane i sigurnosti za učešće u mirovnim misijama kao što su projekti ACroSS, POINTPULSE i STEP.


On June 6th 2018, researchers from the Centre for Security Studies, Mirela Hodović and Sanjin Hamidičević, held lectures on the topics ‘Democratic Control over Armed Forces – Practical Application (the Western Balkan Regional Approach)’ and ‘Role of NGO in Democratic Control over Armed Forces’ within the NATO approved ‘International Staff Officer Skills Course – ISOSC’. The course, organized by the Peace Support Operations Training Centre (PSOTC), was attended by students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, NATO and PfP countries, Macedonia, Albania, Azerbaijan and Tunisia.

The lectures approached to the participants the mechanisms of democratic control and oversight over armed forces in 6 countries of the region, with an accent on parliamentary control and control by independent bodies. On this occasion, the participants were acquainted with the activities of the Centre for Security Studies conducted in the past 17 years concerning the democratic oversight over the security sector, building integrity in the security sector and strengthening the capacities of defence and security institutions for participation in peace support missions such as the projects ACroSS, POINTPULSE and STEP.
