New project for strengthening research capacities

The project of the Center for Security Studies “Increasing Research Capacities of WB CSOs in the Area of Organized Crime” is one of 24 successfully selected regional projects under the Third Call for Proposals of the Western Balkans Fund (for more information on successfully selected projects, please visit: http://westernbalkansfund.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/List-of-Awarded-Projects.pdf).

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to regional cooperation and strengthening regional cohesion in the Western Balkans. The specific objectives of the project relate to strengthening the role of civil society organizations in the fight against organized crime as well as increasing the knowledge of students, teaching staff and journalists in the field of research of this socially negative phenomenon. We are also proud that the project will pay special attention to the participation of girls and women in project activities and thus contribute to strengthening their role in science and achieving the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The project will be implemented by members of the regional network of NGOs “Balkan Security Platform”: Centre for Security Studies (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Institute Alternative (Montenegro), Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (Serbia), EUROTHINK – Centre for European Strategies (Northern Macedonia), Kosovar Center for Security Studies (Kosovo) and the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (Albania).

Although the coronavirus pandemic is still shaking the world, the project partners are ready for the successful implementation of the project. Through careful and precise planning, the project partners have prepared several possible scenarios for the implementation of activities in accordance with the development of the epidemiological situation, and the use of the most modern information and communication technologies is one of them.
